Abstract

Purpose : This study aimed to analyze the difference of clinical findings including complications of coronary artery in mycoplasma infection and several respiratory infection in Kawasaki disease with respiratory symptom. Method : We studied 182 pediatric patients diagnosed as Kawasaki disease. Anti-Mycoplasma Ab and respiratory viral PCR examination was conducted in the group of patients with respiratory symptoms. Echocardiography was conducted by a pediatric cardiologist. We also evaluated the laboratory findings each patients. We compared the difference of clinical manifestation and laboratory findings based on medical record. Result : The average age of Mycoplasma pneumoniae-positive group and negative group were 37.3 months and 58.1 months each, which is significantly different. But there was no significant difference of male-female ratio, coronary artery complication, Kawasaki disease-specific features, Duration of hospitalization and recurrence rate. On the laboratory findings, there were no clinically difference. On the comparison by the presence of respiratory viral infection, age, gender, coronary artery complications, Kawasaki disease-specific clinical manifestations, fever duration, hospitalization duration, recurrence rate showed no significant difference. On the laboratory findings, there was significant difference of CRP level of each 55.6mg/L, and 73.9mg/L between the two groups but the other laboratory findings showed no difference significantly. Conclusion : This study aimed to analyze the relation of clinical features of Kawasaki disease and respiratory infection. Repiratory infection rate in the pediatric patients of Kawaski disease was similar to the prior studies and the clinical manifestation and laboratory findings were not significantly different between the groups.
